Robert The is the ultimate sympathizer of old books. He collected these from dumpsters and thrift store bins, saving them from their underappreciated and presumably less-than-sanitary existances. He believed that these books; educational books, classic literature, and a surprising amount of bibles, deserved vengeance. He meticulously cut each book into a lethal weapon, so they could defend themselves from the society that left them in the dust. They're so well crafted, that each gun still fits perfectly into it's original state which of course, The saved.

I don't know about anyone else, but these images make me feel slightly guilty. I do a lot of rereading so I never throw away old books, but I bet they would like to be treated with more respect than I show. Perhaps less ear marks, highlighting, coffee stains, food stains and random scribblings. All I can ask for is their forgiveness, and their promise not to shoot a barrage of paper bits at me. Check out the rest of Robert The's bookguns on his website.

English artist Jason de Caires Taylor is world renowned for having created the first underwater sculpture park in Grenada, West Indies. He sculpts with the intention of creating an artificial reef for marine life to populate, and as you can see from the first and second photos, his unique style works quite well. His sculptures quickly attract all sorts of planktons and corals until they're covered with a one-of-a-kind, living paint-job.

Big thanks to Antoine Servais for sending this one in! A few days ago we posted the works of artist Emma Hack, who paints over human bodies in order to make them blend into their surroundings. Well, two years ago Media Marketing featured some work from Amnesty International's  print campaign of the time which featured art of a similar style. While at first glance they appear to be normal flags, a closer look reveals their true, graphic nature.

I'm a huge fan of art that involves hiding people or objects in plain site. Two of my favorites are Fred Lebain, a French artist who superimposes photographs of locations over the actual location, and Liu Bolin, a Chinese artist who paints his body in order to blend into the urban environment. Emma Hack operates in a style not dissimilar to Liu Bolin, she chooses a beautiful wallpaper design, and paints a model's body to make them appear invisible.

Call me a geek, but this is one of the coolest submissions I've seen in a while. An anonymous blogger has a two page blog depicting three-dimensional imagery constructed from MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imagery) scans of various fruits and vegetables. It's an almost otherwordly experience to travel through plants this wayThe . It's like somebody put noclip mode on in goldeneye, and at the same time it looks like you're flying through a galaxy at warp speed. Here are my favorite four, can you guess what they are? Check out the other scans and find out what the produce is at the blog Inside Insides.

I don't know about you, but where I live it's been hot and humid for weeks. And I love it. And sometimes I hate it too. But when I put on some really chill, downtempo grooves, I definitely love it. I'd like to share two such tracks that I've been playing a lot recently: Talamak, the second single off of Toro Y Moi's latest record, and Feel It All Around by Washed Out. Grab a beer, take a few deep breaths, grab a seat in the sun, and enjoy!
